Chopper Frame

How I Make my Chopper Frame

The frames I make for my mini chopper motorcycles start out as wire clothes hangers.I use wire hangers because the gauge of the wire is around 14G.. which I find is ideal.. not too thick or too thin..

You need a bit of stiffness for the frame or it will be too flimsy and would not be able to hold the aluminum wheels securely.. not to mention the motorcycle saddle and gas tank.

Also this gauge (14G) allows for easy bending with a standard pliers…
To begin you have to straighten the wire clothes hanger.. after straightening you should have a length of wire around 30″-32″…. you will need 2 clothes hangers.. each frame has a right and left side.. length can vary according to your clothes hanger.. your chopper mini frame can be any size you want it to be, it all depends on the length of the wire you use..

The end result after all the bending leaves a frame which will make you a chopper bike around 10″-12″ in length.
First thing to do after straightening the two pieces of wire is to tape them together.. You need to bend them together so that both left and right side will match each other..

Take a look at the photo of the frame I have finished bending.. Try and make yours like the frame in the photo.. Do not be discouraged if it is not exactly the same.. With experience you will know where to put the bends..

My motorcycle chopper frames use no welding to hold them together.. It is a one piece bend.. What holds the frame together are the aluminum wheels.. ( from the VCR )

There is use of a small amount of tape where the handle bars meet.. and that’s it..

This is the beginning.. the start of your motorcycle chopper frame.. from there we will start to develop the guts of the motorcycle by installing the engine, gas tank, saddle etc..

Stay tuned for more..in my next post..
